The Forte Papers
Welcome to The Forte Papers, a website created by the Center for Schenkerian Studies and the Division of Music History, Theory, and Ethnomusicology at the University of North Texas. This website aims to provide worldwide access to Allen Forte's unpublished analyses, papers, lectures, sketches and notes in a user friendly format available to the entire scholarly community.
To begin, click on a composer’s name and then select the work you wish to view. Due to the nature of the works, some papers may reside three or four layers deep. Clicking on a small thumbnail image will display the larger, high-resolution version within your web browser. If you would like to download one of the documents for personal use, first open it by clicking the thumbnail, and then right-click the image (ctrl-click for Macintosh) to save the full file to your own computer for high quality viewing or printing.
